Root canal therapy in Pomona, NY

Root canal treatment removes inflamed or infected tissue from inside a tooth. It may help preserve a tooth that would otherwise need to be removed. Our Pomona team includes endodontist Dr. Brian Greenberg.

When might a root canal be needed?

Deep decay, cracks or injury can damage the pulp inside a tooth. Persistent pain, lingering sensitivity or swelling should be assessed by a dentist. Symptoms alone cannot tell you which treatment is needed, and pain going away does not establish that the problem has resolved.

What happens during treatment?

The clinician removes affected pulp, cleans and shapes the canals, and fills and seals them. The tooth then needs an appropriate restoration, such as a filling or crown.

Comfort and recovery

Anesthesia is used during treatment. Some soreness afterward is possible; discuss pain control, recovery and when to call the office with your clinician.

Alternatives and long-term care

Treatment depends on whether the tooth can be restored. Ask about the benefits, risks and costs of keeping the tooth versus removing and replacing it. Ongoing home care and dental visits remain important.
